Hi, I was wondering if I could use bluetooth to trasfer files with another laptop like infrared? I have two laptops, and both supposedly have bluetooth capability. How could I do it?

Also, I need this infamous Q323183_WXP_SP2_x86_Enu.exe. I have a VAIO Z1A and reinstalled XP Pro on it. And I think I lost the Wireless control panel in that process. Can't seem to find it to download from anywhere. Can someone be kind enough to email it to me or post it somewhere again?

Thanks

The Vaio uses a Sony Bluetooth stack, you can dowload it from the Sony Vaio website.

To transfer files from one laptop to the other just drap-and-drop the file to the icons in the Bluetooth devices list.

I am not sure if I understand...

I went to VAIO's support site and couldn't find any driver that is related to bluetooth. Do you know where they make this bluetooth stack available? Also once I get that, does that add the wireless control panel item? I would have thought that the wireless control panel is a Microsoft thing and that it is in irprops.cpl.

This article describes my problem (http://www.winbookcorp.com/_technote/WBTA20000912.htm).

So do I need both Q323183_WXP_SP2_X86_ENU.EXE and the Sony bluetooth stack, or just one of them?

Thanks again.

Interesting concept... I have a Windows XP Pro machine and have a USB dongle installed (a Widcomm stack) and never had to install this file.

But again, this problem seems to affect only the Microsoft Bluetooth product and some Sony Vaio then.

lol @ SP2 being buggy!

Do people expect a Microsoft product to be anything BUT buggy?

It's a little different. This file is marked SP2 in the name only. It was released with MS Bluetooth product, after SP1. The idea is that interim updates contain the SP2 in the name, but they may be different when the corresponding Service Pack comes out.

As it happens this update adds only a limited number of profiles, mainly HID to make the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard work.

The Bluetooth stack on Service Pack 2 is very different from this file, and brings a lot more profiles.
