We've used these in a few motels now - one in each room type scenario. Far too much coverage, need to pull the power right down.

VLAN management on the built-in ports is an absolute pain. Wish they would make a "mass edit" function so you could set the "port profile" for them in bulk, and no the copy function is just as slow.

Otherwise, they are just a good, low-cost, AP. Happily rip down a couple hundred Mbps from there which is more than enough for streaming video. No point worrying about the max speeds as realistically you're never going to come close to hitting those doing normal things.

I realise this is the link speed, but I can still obtain about 800+Mbps of actual real world speed over the link without issue.

You can't get real world 800Mbps on a 2x2 AP with a MCS9 866 PHY - real world throughout over WiFi will always be around ~55% of PHY

I'm using the UAP-IW-HDs, as mentioned in my first post, so 4x4 MU MIMO.

I'm pretty sure I can, and do.

866 PHY caps at about 500mbps in a real world test with Aruba APs

They are rated at a radio speed of 1733

Yep, at 160MHz 5GHz.

Either way, back on topic, they are a good unit for the price, highly recommend.

They are a pain to mount compared to normal wall sockets because the first plate deforms on the wall really easily. You need to crimp a RJ45 on the back vs using a punchdown, or put a short patch cable in the wall and hope it doesnt drop off the back inside the wall.

Also, look stupid when horizontal.

They are an ok solution in some places but not ideal in most cases.

I suspect on US style wallboxes that have a face that is co-planer with the wall surface they would work a lot better, but with a NZ/AU style where the box is recessed the back deforms inwards and then the thing sits out from the wall a little bit, slacken them off and it slides around, and the other screw holes are too small to take a normal gib screw to anchor it to the stud.
