I was OK with that until I was informed that because of other changes to their plans my bill would also go up another $15/mth.

Think you will find with LFC price increases all ISPs will be going up

Even perfecter would be not having a landline at all, but.... Himself.

What's stopping you from ditching it?

IF you can do that you can stay with VF and use any router of your choosing

The best solution is to port the number to someone like Hero, then get an ATA or use the phone app.

Plus, they are much cheaper than the OneNZ.

If you are receiving calls only, then it will cost around $4 + GST pm

Then, you can keep the current OneNZ plan

Like I say, Himself, the other half.

Terribly possessive of the landline.

Are there any IPS I can rule out straight off because I cannot use the ONT for a landline?

As above separate your voice from your ISP and use an ATA of a SIP DECT cordless phone

This is what my mum uses - https://www.yealink.com/en/product-detail/dect-phone-w73p

Most ISPS do the voice over the ONT because it just is so much less hassle for the ISP to manage, its one less device that needs to be kept running in a power cut, if chorus replace the ONT there is no re-provisioning of the voice port by the ISP.

Of the big ISPS only OneNZ and Voyage riun voice off the router, Spark and 2degrees (and all its sub brands Orcon/Slingshot/Sky) run their voice over the ONT) along with NOWNZ, Megatel, as examples of smaller players

Himself is digging his toes in on the landline issue.

Also not interested in forking out for all new handsets as per @nztim Yealink suggestion.

Currently, the Ultrahub has a Deco X-20 hanging off it delivering quite good wifi to most of the house.

The Ultrahub wifi was a bit shabby by comparison and I disabled it quite some time ago when I got the X-20.

If I stay with One, and get the X-53, presumably it can handle all the wifi and router and phone functions and I can put that X-20 somewhere else?
