Sorry? My last image, of the ONT, only shows LAN1 on, not Lan2. Its connected from Lan1 to Lan1 and ive tried connecting to the other ports and no difference, and yes, I tried other ethernet cables in case. I did a factory reset last night and nothing changed, still says "The internet connection check failed. The reason for the error could not be determined.". I also updated the OS, no change. The LAN2 might have shown in previous above screenshots from the Fritzbox UI, because LAN2 was connected to my laptop?

after what you have tried there could be reasons out of your control , The ONT or Fritzbox could be faulty or Skinny hasnt connected you yet, have you another router to try, then at least you can eliminate hardware problems.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Give Skinny the ONT serial number to confirm it the correct device. Also you can put the PPPoE connection on your laptop to test (connected directly to ONT).

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Just spent half an hour on the phone to Skinny, he had to put me on hold THREE TIMES (omg the EAR PIERCING clarinet??? music is horrible) to actually be able to answer my basic question of "does your system show that its connected". He said Yes, finally. Im at my parents place and their modem is a Spark 4G one, can I take the sim card out and use it as a regular modem to test at the new property? Also, you say connect the ONT directly to my laptop? Just from the Lan1 on the ONT to my laptop? And then test the internet? I dont actually know what a PPPoE Timeout error means, so im not sure how to test for it.

Create PPPoE connection on W10/11. Connect from ONT LAN port to laptop LAN port.

On the website you just sent, what do I use as the username and password? Just user@skinny.co.nz and Password, or my personal email and password that I used to signup to Skinny? Thank you again for your help :)

Anything... It doesn't matter.

Also the Fritz!Box works with Skinny totally fine.

Im about to walk over to the new house with my laptop and my parents Spark 4g Modem to see if I can get it to work, the only issue is, I cant log into sparks 192.168.1.254 with admin/admin or my parents wifi name/password from my parents house, it keeps saying "Your Username or Password may have error. Please check it " infact, ive never been able to log into this modem at my parents house, its always given that error. Im worried that ill walk all the way to the new house (over an hour) and wont be able to log in to the spark modem there, to input the skinny details to see if its my fritzbox thats faulty or not. I wish I knew more about these things, its like learning a whole other language (something ive never been able to do!).

EDIT: factory reset my parents modem and now i can access it on the above website! Going to take it to the new house now and see if I can get it working with skinny.

I tried to do this and it said Connection failed with error 651, the modem or other connecting device has reported an error.

Rang Book A Nerd and they are $140hr + $35 travel, a new skinny modem is $199+10 so for that price I ordered the modem, 3-5 business days to get here, no way to pay for overnight which is a pain, so will get here by Tuesday at the latest which isnt great, as I need internet from this Saturday (someones going to be working from home, so actually does need to be on from Saturday). Really didnt want to pay that much for a modem nor have a skinny modem, but there was nothing else to try. I still somehow think this is skinnies fault lol.

Get the skinny modem. I'm sure it is around $15 if you sign on a contract for 12 months (well it was when I joined). That way they will fully support you. Even though I use fritzboxes, I still have the skinny modem as a backup.

Also I'm sure you've done this, but you did power off / on cycle the fritzbox after factory reset / wizard setup etc?

From https://www.skinny.co.nz/help/modem-set-up/byo-modem

My BYO modem doesn't work, what can I do?

If you're on No pesky term, you can always purchase a Skinny modem from us for a one-off cost of $150 plus $10 postage and handling.

On a 12 month fixed term, you have two options. You can ask to be moved off our BYO Modem offer - we'll give you a Skinny modem free of charge, but you'll lose your $5 /month discount and there will be a shipping fee for the modem. Or you can pay the early termination fee of $99 and exit your contract.

There is some lack of information here about how things have been configured but the service could even be on the 2nd port of the ONT.

Someone suggested in an earlier post to check with Skinny the ONT serial number to make sure connection is provisioned on the correct ONT.

Was this done?
