If you want a cheap and fast temporary solution perhaps find a wifi router with a guest network mode? However I agree that multi VLANS feature are not a feature that falls into the low tech user bucket.

A bit off topic but how do all the AirBnBs, shared flats, people with boarders, homestays etc deal with this risk?

Air BnBs have records of who was there at the time to hand over.

 

The others don't and have issues as a result. It's not as bad as germany where as little as joining a torrent swarm will get you a letter with large money demands as the account holder, but it's still not something that I would be sharing to a house that will then allow guests etc to use it.
