I followed the directions above, but missed the part about updating the driver. I just did that, too. My mouse still works, but the MS dongle won't connect to my Palm.

The Bluetooth icon in the task bar is still red, indicating tht it is not running. When I right-click it, there is a a choice that says "Enable Bluetooth Radio." When I click that I get a dialog box entited "Bluetooth Service" that says "Bluetooth radio is turned off. Press Fn+f2 to turn it on."

No matter what I do with the F2 key, there is no change.

My Palm Tungsten T will authenticate with the MS dongle, but will not actually link and perform a sync.

You can use the Acer liscence and the patched .dll with version 1.4.1.6. (the link for it is on the top of this page) that way you don't have to deal with the Dell (Fn+F2) laptop crap. It doesn't matter what you press, it will not be enabled by a key stroke, you have to update the bluetooth drivers manually from the device manager in order to enable your dongle.

I had the bluetooth icon red untill I updated the driver for the dongle from the device manager. It is easy to do, just open the device manager, expand bluetooth radios, then right click the microsoft transever and choose update drivers. When the driver update wizard pops up, make sure you choose the second option "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)", then point to the "C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\bin" directory. If you have the Dell version installed, then the path should be "C:\Program Files\DELL\Bluetooth Software\bin". Doing so will enable your MS BT dongle and your bluetooth system tray icon will turn green instead of red.

Let me know if it didn't work.

Hi
I'm downloading the files to ry to get my MS tranciever working properly. I have a quick question though. Do I need to uninstall the MS drivers/software first or do I need it ther to get the intellemouse features to work. Thanks.
PS. Am I correct in saying that you can forego the dell software in favour of the BTW 1.4.1.6 software (link form top of page) right?

No, don't uninstall the MS drivers. just leave them there because if you uninstalled the drivers, they will be reinstalled the next time you reboot. So leave them there, then update the drivers manually from the device manager.

Going from 1.3.2.7 to 1.4.1.6 should work fine.

Just reaslised that I have no idea how to use a hex editor. Using XVI32. Any help would be appreciated. Gonna go eat lunch now. Hopefully some inspiration will come witha full stomach

Everything worked perfectly. Not a hitch (apart from me not havingthe foggiest on how to use a hex editor, figured it out eventually) Mouse working. Still have to configure my Tungsten T but that should be fine. Thanks a lot people.

PS I used the Widcomm file instead of the Dell ones and it worked fine. Sorry for the unnecessary posts. :)

Hotsyncing working like a charm thansk to u guys. Moved on to bigger and better things. ICS!!!. Those guides were etremely usefull. I'm able to connect but I don't get a DNS when I do, so i can't ping or browse. Even when I assign a DNS value 192.168.0.1 (same as Bluetooth network IP) I don't get a ping response. I think that I have the Bluetooth Network settings wrong. I tried to configure them previous to reading you guide so I don't know what the default values are. maybe you can put that in the guides (u only have the values for the Local/Primary LAN) I'll browse around the forum and see if I find a solution. Else feel free to post a reply.

Make sure to read the last article in the Bluetooth Guides, a checklist of things that can be wrong on ICS. First thing to think is a firewall!

Yeah I've been through the checklist. the only thing that I'm not sure about is
"BT adapter on desktop/laptop without DNS entry"
What is the DNS entry supposed to be?

One thing I forgot to mention was that I'm using AOL as an ISP. i don't know if that will affect teh internet connection sharing as they have their software that u use to connect to the internet. I can connect to the computer alright but the ping times out.

Ah... I think I read somewhere about AOL not being ICS-friendly. Perhaps you could try Winrouter Lite.

I think we should move this thread to a Palm specific one - so other Palm users will find it.
