freitasm: what seems to be the problem? I didn't say any swear words, or did you mean:

retarded - is this the word troubling you? Check the dictionary, it's a perfectly normal word.
gay license file - it's called a slang, another word for "stupid".

Anything else? Sounds like this is a catholic forum or something....relax dude, you'd be upset too if you couldn't use your PC with your phone and iPaq because some company is too lazy to release a driver.

The problem is that if I show up with a message to a corporation body and say something with these exactly words, nothing will go ahead. We both know this.

Slkhlaw, you've made a good analogy with the nVidia drivers.

In the case of the GeForce 2 & 4 mobile processors, nVidia does not support use of the drivers on its site. The manufacturer must tweak and support these drivers due the component integration and complexities in using 3D on laptops.

I always felt that Toshiba was way too slow in providing the latest drivers for my laptop. I found it frustrating that Dell provided the most recent drivers for its laptops and that their drivers were secured (in order to protect the investment spent for support). I attempted to install "tweaked" drivers found from reading through various forums. The result was 3 days of re-installing my OS and applications.

So, even with nVidia, one set of drivers does not fit all.

Cool, I tried it on my MSI dongle. It solves the license issue, but it always says "cable is unplugged", although I can find my PC with my phone and pair them, it also work the other way, but PC doesn't find my phone's name, it only knows its a phone. It must be something wrong with the driver for my dongle. I used anycom 1.4.2...maybe I should try this on Belkin...gonna do that later :)

theh0g, is the message "Network cable unplugged"?

If so, can you confirm the Advanced Configuration | Services | Network Access is configure to allow internet access, not network access?

It says "network access" there, why would I need a internet access? It's also a text field, nothing to select. I only tried to change "Select the type of service to offer remote deviced" to "allow other devices to access LAN/internet through this device"..but it doesn't work, it still only recognises a phone, not its name.

Sorry I put the wrong question .

When you go there do you see "Allow other devices to access the internet" or "Allow other devices to create a private network"?

If it's the second, then "Network cable unplugged" is normal, until another device connects to this service. That's it...

Oh, okay :)

But I guess I'll still have to wait for MSI to release a driver, since my dongle won't pair with my phone.

UPDATE: I tried other software, nothing worked, it just won't recognise my phone...any ideas?

I tried it last night and no luck with my Belkin dongle. It fixes the license issue but now, when I try to Find Bluetooth Devices from My Bluetooth Places, I get the following error message "No local Bluetooth device was detected". The dongle seems to be recognized since the tray icon changes from red to white when I plug it. I can also see the device properties from the Hardware tab in the Advanced configuration.

Like theh0g, I'm able to discover/pair from my phone but not the other way around...

Anybody has the same problem?

Martin

Yep, it seems like it wasnt quite working. Ive posted a new set of bytes to change now (on the same forum mentioned above) and its working nicely with my phone and bluetooth mouse using the belkin drivers. It should probably work with others too.

I have written a guide that should help most people get the mobile phone bluetooth talking to their PC. It DOES work with Windows 2003. Take a look here.
