I also had similar problems with the Thomson Router but glad to say they were resolved for me with a router firmware upgrade, see my thread: " Thomson TG585 v8 router drops network connection when using BBC radio listen again".

I see you have given up on the Thomson for now, I was pretty close to throwing it in the bin too, until trying a firmware upgrade yesterday which worked a treat. Not sure how supported it is by Telecom but sure do have some functionality that just didn't work from day one (approx 5 months ago).

I have the Telecom TG585v8 and it will not work with my wireless N Xbox360 adapter. It soes work fine in G, though. the TG585v8 is only "sort of" wireless N, which is not enough for my Xbox adapter.

It explains why Telecom gave me the router for free Smile.

Hi, for the past two years, I've had a telecom supplied thompson wireless router. In the last few weeks/months it has been dropping the connection and resetting the connection a few times during the day usually at the most annoying times.

So while upgrading my phone and internet connection(more gb's) I asked them to send me a new wireless router(free) which they did. After installing it, I could no longer access my shared files on my desktop from my laptop or see any of the devices on the network. After much messing around and trying different things, i searched google for "TG585 v8 sharing" and found this thread.

My thanks for the help, changing the router to "g" only sorted the problem. It had me confused as to why just changing the router would prevent the file sharing on my network, as it was just a newer version of the same wireless modem. The interface is different, if its better or not I am yet to decide.

Regards
G

Wow chuckie, that is the reason I am here too... None of computers on my network can see / ping each other after my flatmate moved out and needed a cheap new router.

Hopefully that will work, I don't under stand why I can't but I guess if it worked for you :). Will probably edit this and say yay it works, when I try it :)

Re: OP posting and not back for days - not everyone lives on the internet, email, gz, whatever.

I would seriously cut the OP and others some slack in this regard - I often set aside time to do various 'tasks' on the net, and it's not always every day.

These modems has a firmware upgrade that overseas ISPs are supplying to their customers.  Icalled Telecom tech support last week and asked if they could supply it for their customers in NZ. After 20 minutes of difficult conversation I gave up.
