just in case you didn't notice - this thread refers to the SDIO version...
but perhaps that's irrelevant.

You betcha! Windows XP Pro all around. I just do not have time to keep them up to date, my son gaming 24/7, and myself to have some real downtime!

I have a somewhat different problem. I've installed the software, and although it appears quite buggy, I can eventually get the WiFi software to work (even though once I turn off the wireless radio I have to soft reset the entire device to get it working again!)

Anyway, my main problem is that the 256mb part of the card will NOT format. Every time I insert the card, it prompts me to format, I tap 'yes', but nothing happens. I use the device as normal, and when I eject the card, I get a pop-up "Unable to format storage card"!

Baffled? You betcha! Any ideas? Should I update drivers?

Humm - just over a year since this message started, and Sandisk are still selling that heap of useless copper and plastic..
Spazz - you don't say what machine you have. I read somewhere that my one (O2 XDA II, or Vodafone i-mate in NZ) still doesn't support the combined WiFi / memory card.
For the benifit of those who haven't purchased yet ... after failing to get the SanDisk card going (see above), I got my employer to shell out for the more expensive Socket SDIO card. Used the same drivers as the Sandisk, main difference is that that it works! I had a few problems, but they have been fixed by recent software updates. Maybe the Sandisk card would work with the new Socket drivers??? Anyway - I've connected to every AP I've tried since I installed a driver update last November. AdHoc mode works fine too. Currently I'm on a dialup connection (in an Ozzie motel - hence the flag at left, very clever Mauricio) with my XP notebook's a/b/g WiFI, and the XDA II is connecting seamlessly to it.
Good luck!

[OT] SteveC, yes the flag is your location when you post... I decided to put a little flag to make the board more colorful. Also, it shows to some forum spammers that we do record IP addresses and if they disturb too much we'll find the ISP if needed...

Back on topic - I strongly oppose Sandisk wi-fi products. Since the problem I reported here things haven't change much.

I have a Harrier... are you really saying that the 256mb portion of the card won't work?! It's the only Wi-Fi/memory SD card I could find in Auckland... That sucks!

Just an update..

The guy at DSE reckons that the card will not work properly on Pocket PC. He also said there are no other Wi-Fi SD cards available through any retail store in New Zealand.

Bummer.

This guy at DSE is wrong... The Sandisk Wi-Fi SD card is designed for Pocket PC. It's just a bad software implementation. The product page is clear:

"OS support for:

• PDA - PocketPC 2002, PocketPC 2003, Windows Mobile 2003"

DSE is not the best place to ask for technical advice.

I use a Socket WL6202-498 SDIO WiFi card in my Harrier and it works great.

I'm seriously considering the Socket one Jama, whereabouts did you get yours from?

And further to your comment mauricio, I actually think Telecom sells the exact same 256/wi-fi card specifically for the Harrier so it MUST work, surely... Stupid DSE guy...

So does anyone actually have a SanDisk Wifi-256M SD working in a harrier then?

For me the Wifi is intermittent and the ram is not seen at all. If someone can report success then I might perceiver otherwise back it goes.....

Spazz - I got mine from The Laptop Company, in Wellington. They might have a branch in Auckland, but who really cares? I think the cards are imported by a distributor called Portable Computer Services Wellington Ltd 15 Jarden Mle Ngauranga Wellington E-Mail 0-4-499 9420. I found the distributor's name on Socket's web page somewhere.

Mauricio - I thought the Socket and SanDisk cards could share the same software - I got the same results with either driver, but that was a year ago. I suspect bad (albeit cheaper) hardware!
