a 24 Port dynamix panel is only $50 odd bucks so probably is worth it. Only down side is you now need a frame.

I have an old 6U frame that I would give away as they are dime a dozen. Its 200mm deep. Would that fit in your cupboard?

Along with the unit that illict linked there are the signet ones that I designed, there is the ST2206 which is a full DSL solution which includes housing for the VDLS2 filter and provides proper PTC106/TCF isolation socket and DSL socket, the ST2208 is designed for the apartment market with 8 cat5e rated data sockets/patchpanel and 4 phone/voice patch sockets plus a DSL modem socket.

Where can the ST2206 be purchased from? and what is the likely price?

The cupboard is fairly large ( ex hot water cupboard) with shelving in it and mostly full of junk i will be removing so should fit. It also backs onto a reasonably large laundry which has some spare walls which could be used for mounting things if neccessary.

Just wondering about the best way to install this into a new house.

Would you put the ST2206 in the Garage directly where the phone line enters the house?
If so what's the best way to mount this in the wall, is there a simple in-wall panel to hold this device?

I have an IT cupboard in the middle of the house, would I just run the DSL line from the ST2206 to the AV cupboard where my patch panel and VDSL modem are?

I suppose I would just run 1 pair from a phone port on the ST2206 to my patch panel and push phones around the house from there...

Kinda thinking out loud here, tell me if i'm on the wrong track.

Hi, run a line from the demarc (in the garage in your case) directly to your AV cupboard, site the ST2206 there, the VDSL2 filter mounts on the ST2206. The ST22206 can be directly screwed to the wall, just remove the plastic clips and use the holes where they were.

The idea is to place the the ST2206 next to your patch panel and modem so you can then use standard cat5e patch cords to patch phone circuits to desired outlets in the house, and obvioulsy somewhere to connect your modem to.

If you go for a structured solution then do it fully no need to have BTs for anything.

I've been told Telecom requires you to have atleast one BT plug at the Demarc point.
Glad to hear I don't need it.

Just been outside and crawled under a concrete slab to take a look at the telecom etp, seems i need a special screwdriver to get into it, it has 3 grooves, looks like a tri-wing screw, am i correct? Where can i get a screwdriver to get into it.

How prone to interference are cat5/cat6 cables from GSM transmission?
Just moved into a house with a small tall cupboard that I was looking at putting the alarm (call out via Cell) and also using as a distribution for network and tv.

Hi, people use their cellphones at their desks next to lan cables all the time, no issue.

Probably wise to keep a 300mm clearance from a large bunch of cat5/6 cables and the antenna of the alarm, but other than that any interference is well out of band to ethernet signals, this includes both the 900Mhz carrier and the TDD beat of GSM/GPRS.

Personally I think I would want to use another location.

There seems to be 2 black cables coming in (both inside the telecom green ducting (out of shot)) only one goes into the white ducting).
Then one white cable coming out (in white ducting) to under the house also another black unducted cable going under the house.
I will go investigate under the house to see where they go.

is there a splitter in there now?
the splitter will have an orange wire on it. See what wire is joined to that and that is your incoming line. Ignore the black one going under the house just look at the ones going down the telecom duct.

I have taken a look at where the cables go now, the black one entering the house is split (very crappily under the house) to all the voice jacks in the house and the white one goes into the adsl jack.
I have remembered that this house used to have 2 phone lines, could this explain the 2 incoming lines from the road?

Unfortunately i cannot get in the etp as i need to get that kind of screwdriver to open it up,
Chevrolux what kind do i need?

PS yes there is a central splitter in there
