+1 for Astrill

The software that integrates with DD-WRT is great. Don't think any other VPN service offers this to my knowledge

+1 for Astrill as well. I only just hooked up this service and it works great with Netflix on my Revue. The Revue is the only device which is using the VPN so all my other devices are 'NZ-located'.

grant_k: When browsing local websites (GZ, NZ Herald) I find that Astrill slows me down a lot if I leave it set to UK as I normally do.  So I just turn it off when not downloading.  Otherwise, I have no complaints, and will renew my 6-month sub when it runs out later this year.

Well, we host in Auckland, with very good connectivity through Datacom. You are effectively going to London   and back to fetch content that is just around the corner from you.

If we were based in the US or Europe then you wouldn't notice this much.

Yeah, I figured as much.  Doubling what is already a very large lag to the UK can't be a good thing.

Has anyone using Astrill found using their different servers in the same city makes much speed difference? e.g. LA1 vs LA7? Which of their US locations is the fastest from NZ, LA?

Yes i usually find UK 6 is faster than the others, not by a lot though. The new UK via USA seems pretty quick as well.
