Ah! This is starting to look something like it, or rather where I'm heading.

I'm sure it's what you were saying last week @coffeebaron

Although I do need to know how to have it working using their modem as primary in case there are issues they need to chip in on. Because apparently that's the only one they're trained to work on ;)

@jevvv confirming you are not using the VoIP line from Slingshot?

Yes I WILL be using the VoIP line from Slingshot...

... once I've got things working so the rest of the family can also use the internet. Currently I'm plugged directly (well, via a couple of stories of cabling) into the modem

coffeebaron:

To put Draytek into VDSL bridge mode:

http://downloads.snappernet.co.nz/draytek...

Then put Slingshot username / password into PPPoE settings on Gargoyle.

Just FYI - I had the MOST frustrating experience getting my Vigor 130 into bridge mode. There's some kind of idiotic web interface bug, even in the latest firmware, that required me to juggle and reset seemingly unrelated settings over and over until it finally clicked and began working. The settings on the last page of that guide would just not "stick" and reverted every time I hit OK - I think I found a tip somewhere on Geekzone about how to make it work. From memory you also need to change the option "specify an IP address" to "obtain an IP address automatically", which isn't listed in the guide.

Wasted an evening with no internet and the endless modem reboots did such a number on my DLM that I didn't get full sync speed back for months. I'm now afraid to touch the thing for fear of having to do it all over again.

The Vigor 120 took me all of 10 seconds to set up. The Vigor 130 sorely tested my faith in Draytek, even though the actual performance and stability of the modem (once configured) is rock solid.

Thanks Fraser.

Just waiting for a download to finish before I rearrange the boxes smile

How are you doing on your install?

Thanks for the warning.

I was previously using the Vigor 130 in bridge mode (referenced in another thread about needing a new modem, then the setup chatter) so hopefully I dont' have to go through it again. Not sure since the whole reason for the current change is to shift from ADSL to VDSL

Also: I am using the new setup!

@coffeebaron came over and ran through some things on it which needed adjusting (settings I think they're called ;) )

Thank you! (Sorry about the car- hope that's sorted soon)
