Funny! Will you replace it or do you proceed with the synology alone?
I've set up the Odroid-HC1 received today with a 2.5" WD red 1TB before the latter has phased out. Not yet checked the power consumption but I expect a quite low level because of the stripped down to server basics only pcb. And there might be much faster HDDs or SSDs but it's highly questionable to get more than 125 MB/s throwed over a single 1Gb ethernet link and if the racing horses will survive 24/7 NAS or cloud operation for a longer period.
Tinkerisk
- NET: FTTH, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs, ipPBX
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT: thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D: two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter
I'm replacing it with 2 Odroid-HC1s that'll each with a 120gb SSD. They wont utilize the SSDs though, but still uses less power and has less latency. One of them will still send stuff to the synology when it runs out of room. The other is a database/web server.
Coil:
You should put some RGB's in the next setup you do, Seems to be the trend now days :)
With the HC1 he's already done:
R)ed - Power
G)reen - SATA activity
B)lue - Heartbeat (configurable)
and additional options on the Ethernet jack. :-)
