afe66: I had to reset my vf router this morning as its been flakey. I previously asked about the Vodafone free mesh offer but they said I had to drop gigabit in order to qualify so that was a non starter...

I am fairly sure your gigabit service is included if it's called "Fibre max" regardless of open term or not.

Try redeeming it online.

Thanks. Will double check.
The customer service guy kept offering me 100mbit plans so I just bailed.

Thanks for the offer to help set it up but i think if it is that advanced my preference would be to go for something that wouldn't need further support if it goes wrong for whatever reason - build in a bit of self insurance.

Taking that into account sounds like just getting the one from Voyager or another off the shelf option might be the way forward, don't mind spending a bit more to remove the need for IT expertise,

Cheers

Have you considered the TP-Link Archer routers?

You need to make sure it works on VLAN 10 for Voyager - A few years ago most TP-Link routers didnt, but now they pretty much all do AFAIK.

This one (~$160) https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL4907/TP-Link-OneMesh-Archer-C7-Wi-Fi-Router-Dual-Band-W

Has been around for a while. I had one for about 4 years - Very solid. TP_Link keep making the 'same' model, but revising the specs - So don't be too put off thinking it will be very out of date. It definitely supports VLAN 10 (they refer to it as IPTV in the settings).

This one (~$200) https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL4580/TP-Link-Archer-A8-Gigabit-Wi-Fi-Router-MU-MIMO-Dua#product-specs-anchor

also supports VLAN 10 and will be a bit more powerful.

If you google "TP-link router emulator" - you will find TP-Link have emulators for many of their models so you can have a look at the interface.

I think with the 2 above, you would just go through quick setup to enter the PPPoE and wif SSID names, then choose "Advanced"/Network/IPTV and enable VLAN, then select NZ in the drop down box. Would pretty much be up and running then.
