In case it's of interest, I have been using four TP-Link AV1300 powerline units for a number of years now. I'm very happy with them - low lag, good throughput, and they tie all of the various bits of kit spread around my house together quite nicely. I can reliably stream decent quality video to several TVs at the same time using them.

Contemplating getting another, to more some more stuff off WiFi that doesn't need to be using it (i.e., my wife's office, given the amount of working from home we are doing).

My device is directly connected to the internet with an ethernet cable and the problems continue so, at this stage, it appears a power line adaptor won't actually help the situation. I am tempted to buy the other device while it is on special just to see if it is more reliable.

If you can stretch the budget to this . . . it's still one of the better streaming media players available
basically the same as the mi tv stick but with more power and supports 4K streaming

Thx but I just bought the one on special and so far no problems, even just using WiFi as this one doesn't have an ethernet option. Am surprised it uses the same software as SV11. I have moved the SV11 to the kitchen so it isn't wasted.

BTW, I noticed that both TVNZ on Demand and Threenow are inaccessible for a few minutes in the early hours of each morning. I assume this is while they are doing daily maintenance and they must both share the same servers.

no idea about the SV11 - but the Xiaomi devices use Android TV 9
If you are using the TV stick out of the box it will be due a system update that should improve performance a little.

Looks interesting. But the thing that would put me off is that it appears to be WiFi only, with no Ethernet port. I prefer, where possible, to cable media streamers. It takes the load off WiFi and generally seems to be more reliable.

Looks like one of these (< $26) will provide you with an ethernet connection:

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/ADPCXT5301/Cruxtec-USB-30-to-RJ45-Gigabit-Ethernet-Network-Ad

Just plug it in the USB port on the Mi Box.

Though it looks like the USB port on the box is 2.0 - so you could buy a cheaper USB 2.0 to RJ45 adapter for less than $3 on Aliexpress:

Thanks but I already bought an ethernet adapter for the SV11 so I could use that if necessary; however the new MiTV device is working perfectly with SuperWiFi 5.1 (I switched off 2.4) and, as I've already established, there seems to be a problem with the SV11 which a direct ethernet link didn't solve.
