Harder than expected to uncover home the phone is wired in as it is under the house. I will probably need to look at the weekend.

Here is a snap of how it enters the house.

Perhaps you are familiar with telecom's standard approach?

I have since tried installing the router on 3 other sockets, starting at the socket nearest to the incoming line but have not seen the go up. Changing the filter to different brands did make it get to 13.5.

When this was happening at a friends house they moved into, it turns out that there was a connection out to their garage and there was a cable going out to a seperate building that had an old telecom 1+1 unit in it that was never removed by the previous owners or the ones before them etc. Cut that out and things came perfect with the plugin filters.

Audio problems from DSL will happen if there is _anything_ on the line that is not filtered, not just the thing you are using, so I recon that you have another jack around the place with something plugged into it. Also pull any surge protectors that you may have put across the phoneline too.

Those fine people at Chorus tuned up and I think we have solved the issue. As ever user error. There is a monitored burglar alarm which does not have a filter. My understanding is this can cause an issue even if not being activated. And they didn't charge a bean which appealed to my scotish side.

Whats your speeds now?

Alarms are bad since they are always across the line to monitor the phone line voltage for it being cut, so even when they are not dialing out they are stuffing the connection up.

So the alarm install predated your adsl install??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Attainable Rate (Kbps):19332 1216

These are taken for the stats display. The alarm was installed before we came to the house and as said before this did not seem to be a problem until ADSL2+ arrived on the scene or around that period.
