Could be they are adding range to the low power version. Designed for IOT but useful for other low through low power applications like mail.

Yes but it is only pulsed in tiny bursts :)

That would depend on a per device setting though. you wouldn't have an ear piece that's designed for 100m or a blue tooth speaker that's designed for 0.5m.

It does beg the question though - high frequency means high transmission rates, albeit with less penetration. will we ever look at trying to use waves in the THz range commercially. We are demanding more data, faster and without laying infrastructure wireless has some excellent potential. Wireless already out does fibre in some tests (10Gbps and upwards) and a 4g connection is better than some fibre we now get commercially.

Mind you light contained in Nylon is not likely to be cancer causing so maybe we should try that out.
