First you should be using a Bluetooth stack that supports the headset profile. The built-in Windows XP Pro SP2 Bluetooth software does not, but I suppose you are running Sony's own software - in which case I am not sure.

The best way to find out is to open My Bluetooth Places (or similar) and right-click the icon corresponding to this headset, after pairing. You will be able to see what services are offered by the headset - and if Headset is listed then try connecting to it.

Note that from this moment all sound will be redirected to and from your headset, until you disconnect or the computer is rebooted. Also note that programs will keep using the sound device available when they first started, so you have to start Skype after you connect the headset.

And no, there isn't a way to automatically connect the headset, you have to do it manually every time.

You better check if you are really using the Windows stack. This will be the case if you are not using Sony's own Bluetooth hardware.

Sony's software may support the headset profile, check on Device Manager what drivers are being used. If not then I am afraid you are stuck with that. There are ways of using a third party software but that requires changing some files and we do not have the instructions here - Google is your friend.
