Hi,
My Linksys wireless router has given up on me and i'm accessing the internet using my Dynalink RTA1320 modem (which will probably over-heat soon).
So i brought a TP-Link W8960N. I have been having real trouble trying to set the router up. I can't log into the router using 192.168.1.1
I have tried to reset it (holding reset button 15sec, power off keep holding for 15sec, power on keep holding for 15s) but no luck! Even tried a 60/60/60 reset as well.
I have connected two different laptops via Ethernet cable to the router and used the default 192.168.1.1 to connect to the router. No Luck. While doing this i noticed the LAN lights on the router all flash and then the LAN i've connected too stays on. When all the LAN lights flash i get the "Local Area Connection" A network cable is unplugged pop up on the laptop. I have tried 3 different Ethernet cables. I know 2 work as i'm connected to my modem and writing this using one of them.
Local area connection on the laptop (TCP/IP) is set to automatic IP and DNS. Have tried setting the IP and DNS to something in the range of the router (e.g. IP = 192.168.1.2, subnet 255.255.0.0 and gateway to 192.168.1.1)...still no luck
Have ran the easy setup software and get this error "Please make sure router DHCP server is enabled" and then the Local area connection pop up on the laptop says the connection has limited or no connectivity. I then tried a ipconfig/all and my IP is 169.254.35.207. I'm assuming the DHCP is part of the problem as the laptop is not getting assigned a proper IP address??
Anyone have any ideas as to how i can log into this router so i can configure it?
Or is the router rooted?
Cheers
