Is there anyway to set a wireless router (d-link dir-632) it to give priority/bandwidth/speed to designated devices.

I may not be using correct terminology here, so might help if I explain I am trying to prioritise my/her laptop over kids You-Tube/gaming usage.

A search here suggests priortitising certain types of traffic may be possible but can't find anything on prioritising by device.

Any advice appreciate

Mike

The best option is to install DD-WRT 3rd party firmware on your router.

Try prioritorising on MAC address.
Don't know if this option is available on your device.

Looking into DD-WRT, but worried about bricking the router if I get it wrong, seems that there is  reasonably

Turns out my router includes a "Quality of Service Engine" which prioritises gaming, so it's no wonder the kids are happily gaming, while I'm grdinding my way into simple websites.

As a start point I have turned this off, while I learn about DD-WRT.
