Hi,

My phoneline has stopped working properly. People calling in just get a disconnected sound and when I pick up the handset I get a dial tone but when I dial a number it will connect the call but I also get a disconnected sound over the top. This is from my test point, so before the master filter with nothing else connected. Any ideas?

Cheers

Sounds like you have another connection jumpered on your line, i.e. you actually have 2 phones lines from the exchange connected to your connection ... not sure this is in the right forum btw .... I assume you have a Telecom line ?

No slingshot, I put it in here because it's all hooked into my LAN, but it's probably better in the slingshot forum

If its on your lan then your phone can only be an IP phone, you probably need to give us some more info on your setup

Sorry I'm not being very clear, Trying to keep it short typing on my phone.

I've got cat5 from etp to a master filter then to a patch panel/switch so I have removed the filter so I'm basically connecting straight to the cat5 from the etp. Even replaced the cat5 from the etp to the test point in case something had happened to that but it made no difference

Sounds like something has been mis jumpered by Chorus and you've got a crossed line. Ring your ISP and lodge a fault.
