I have a Toshiba P100 laptop that had been previously able to pair to a Pantronics 590A headset (for use undr Skype).
Connectivitiy was not always easy, usually requiring disabling the BT and re-enabling it while the headset was on.

Recently I upgraded to the new "4.20.01 BT stack by Toshiba", and now I cnnot pair theheadset at all.

Does anyone have experience or insight into this please?

Have called Plantronics but they treat me like a mushroom, and say that it's not intended to be pairable to a laptop!! (even though it has obviously been working well before)

DESPERATE for assistance.......

Hi,

there is a new version available 4.20.08.
Can you double-check with that version?

If it still don't work, can you check [START]-[Control Panel]-[Bluetooth Local COM] what COMPorts are enumerated.

Thanks for the tip. I tried the new version, but had more problems than with the previous Toshiba BT Stack 4.20.01.
Anyway, went back to 4.20.01 and SOMEHOW got it working now. So establishing connection to the 590A seems quite reliable now!
And I can even BT connect my W810i mobile at the same time. However, when I try to use my BT mouse, there is very erratic behaviour and disconnection of the 590A!! (thought that you could use up to 7 BT devices, but perhaps you need to set up a BT PAN for that?).

Also, I noticed that the BT stack insists on using COM40 (installation gave me no choice) instead of the COM7 someone in these posts stipulated.

Anyway, I have not investigated the in-depth details of BT, but it's really amazing how different devices seem to connect with hugely differing degrees of difficulty. I realise that it all depends on the capabilities each device has. But I know that my W810i requires quite a laborious process (and not always reliable) to connect via the Sony-Ericsson Suite (new version), whereas a good third-party application like MyPhoneExplorer 1.5.4 does it ALL SEAMLESSLY and automatically!!
So there seems to be a lot of suspicion about poorly-written software not facilitating minimum-effort reliable BT connectivity!!
