I recently bought a Broadcom bluetooth dongle.... BCM2045A.... i installed the widcomm drivers which i got with it and everything seemed fine....
I am able to connect to the BTdongle from my L6 mobile..... but when i put search for devices on the computer..... i get this message saying
"Your bluetooth device could not start the search for devices"
Please help.... since the motorola mobile phone tools requires the computer to detect the mobile and not the other way around

Don't recall the exact procedure, but I had similar problems with my moto RAZR, until I realized that you have to turn on "discovery" on the phone.  This session lasts about 60 seconds, while you have it enabled have your PC do the search again, once it is detected  you should be able to setup the pairing.  I am pretty sure that the "discovery" is under BT setup on the motorola unit.  Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply..... But i Repeat it says "Your bluetooth device could not start the search for devices"
I Think that would mean it has nothing do with even the discovery mode....

i also use Motorla mpt with a different BT dongle with only occasional problems (nothings perfect yet!)

Questions:
 -  what version MPT are you running? i use 4.3.6c which just came out end of 2006

 - what version of the widcomm stack is installed? And are you certain you are actually running on it?  Assuming ur on a Windows OS find the Bluetooth driver in Device Manager and see what it's running. I use Widcomm 1.4.2.8 but have a BT 1.2 dongle so that version stack won't work for you. The later Widcomm versions support 2.0. Tell me which u have.

- MPT handles all the connections for me. i DON'T first connect phone/computer then computer/dongle and that'ss probably part of your problem. Start MPT first. The very first time should ask u about your phone and will configure itself to talk to adapter and THEN will ask you to put phone in BT discovery mode and will go look for it.
