I know this issue has been somewhat covered already, but my bluetooth dongle is a generic brand. When I go to install it throuhg plug n play, the name for it in the tooltip is ISSCBTA, and it says it cannot find a driver for this device. Please help!

Did you not get a driver CD with the USB dongle when you bought it?

When plugging it in Windows should automatically detect it as a bluetooth device and use the Microsoft BT stack if you don't install drivers.

Are you using Windows XP? Early versions of Windows do not include a bluetooth stack if I recall correctly.

From my experience only certain bluetooth chipsets are supported natively by Windows XP. The DSE Class 1 adaptor is but the D-link and Swann ones aren't :-(

Exactly. You will need Windows XP Service Pack 2 to have native support, and as noted, not all devices are compatible.

The best option is to use the original software distributed with this device.

Have you created a COM port and configured the software to "listen" on that port?

Have you create any other configuration required for this to work? Simply pairing the devices is just the start of the journey.

Check our Bluetooth Guides. There's a link there for this situation.

You need to follow this: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=8&TopicId=2200. In summary you have to check that your system is using the correct drivers that came with the adapter, and not the Windows XP drivers.

Unfortunatelly there's no picture sequences for this. You can print the page and follow the instructions.
