Hello
Does anyone have experience with IoGear USB Bluetooth Adapter?
Mainly I'd like to know if I can use it to share intenet connection with my IPAQ (it lists Personal Area Network (PAN) connectivity as feature, is that what I need ?) and also about the possible range I can expect (it claims 330 feet)
thanks

You should be ok with the IOGear. The range will be around 10m, which is the range for most handhelds too.

I have the iogear BT adapter. After many MANY hours of working with it I was able to get access to the internet. My problems where not with the iogear but due to the fact I was trying to share the internet connection with my router. That won't work without alot of trouble!! Trust me. I am able to access the net through the activesync connection. I first start a local network connection via bluetooth, then access the pc via the bluetooth activesync connection. This seems to work for me. I am not sure how the speed compares to using the proper internet bluetooth connection, but I was just glad to get it working! In your bluetooth places settings, make sure the connection is set to a personal network and not the internet. This greys out the internet connection section at the bottom and will not try to access the net from there.

As for the range, I believe the 330 ft. I had the dlink which only claimed 30ft and I lost connection sitting in my living room directly below the pc. Now with the iogear I can roam the house.
good luck.
As the Doofus at Business Depot said, "this is cutting edge stuff, how am i supposed to help you?"

so I just went for Linksys adapter and now I will never find out if IoGear would work :)

Anyway Linksys works great, I got to get my internet and files sharing working with my HP 2210. It was quite easy to set up once I discovered that I can just change my router's IP from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 and free it up for bluetooth.
The only problem I am having is that when I stream video from my PC to my PDA it keeps disconecting me. I get perfect signal but it just always drops...What is the max speed I should expect out of it ? I encode my videos at about 350kbps. Btw I love how I can just open divX video files in Microsoft Media Encoder and stream it to PDA :)

Microsoft Encoder has a setting for Pocket PC. It's not default, you'll have to download it from the microsoft.com/media site.
