Hi guys,

this is my first post to this forum. Greetings. (Great site btw)

Anyway, I was having some issues with bluetooth. I bought a USB bluetooth device from dse.co.nz the other day. And when I tried to installed the software on my *Windows Server 2003* box. The following error message displays:

---------------------------
BTW License
---------------------------
Your Widcomm Bluetooth Software license does not include
use on this operating system. [-350]
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I have checked with dse and the OEM in taiwan. And both of them said it is a licensing issue and there is no work around for it at the moment.

Is that true? Can I buy a third party software to get my bluetooth neigborhood going? (I have to use Windows Server 2003 and nothing else, unfortunately).

Thanks for reading that far and any suggestions are welcome.

Ooops. I'm pretty sure most of Widcomm licensees don't distribute the software for Windows 2003 Server.

What features you need? If you need only Serial connections (not LAN!) then you could return this adapter and try the 3COM, which uses a different stack (with less profiles). But I'm not 100% it runs on W2K3 Server, you'll have to try.

I am new to bluetooth. What I want to do is to pairing my laptop with my cell phone. i guess this mean serial connection??

Damn. I don't think dse will take it back cos i have broken the cover while trying different work arounds.

Maybe I will hold on to my usb device and hope that Microsoft will have some bluetooth support soon. How like do you think it will happen?

Microsoft will release enhanced Bluetooth support with Windows XP Service Pack 2. At this moment I haven't seen any indication of this coming to Windows 2000 or Server editions.
