After waiting an eternity for the new drivers from TDK, I installed them as soon as I found that they were available and ran out to buy Microsoft's Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth, hoping to reach road warrior nirvana.

At first I noticed a slight lag but it was just tolerable. Then when I sync my iPaq through bluetooth, the lag becomes very bad (congestion at the bluetooth card??). You can wave the mouse in a circle and the cursor will keep running for 1/2 a second after you stop.

Has anybody else had this problem?? Is there anything you can do to fix it? I'm also planning on using the bluetooth card to connect to A Nokia 6820 for EDGE access and can imagine that it will just bury the mouse then???

Specifically, I'm using the TDK 1.4.2.18 stack, the older PCMCIA card (the one with a green plastic cover over the antenna). I installed the intellipoint software but stopped the install after the reboot to prevent the MS BT stack from being installed (didn't miss anything did I?).

Thanks!

I've noticed this when using the first beta released last year. Perhaps you have the power settings on your USB Root set to save?

If not, I'd consult with TDK. They have quite good support.

Why would the power settings on my USB root set affect anything if I'm using the PCMCIA card?

thanks

Ooops. My fault. Is just because I've read about problems with connections drop and lag from other users and solved a couple of them by changing power control settings in the USB root hub.

I'd go to TDK support then. As I said they're good to reply users.

Not sure this will make a difference, but have you checked that your TDK PC card is running the latest firmware? There is a program in your TDK directory called "Bluetooth Device Information" in the \bin directory. This should check the firmware version and allow you to upgrade if necessary.

Mine reports firmware version 524, and I've run the card with TDK v1.4.2.18 and a MS Mouse with no noticeable lag.

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck,

Tom

THANKS!! The firmware upgrade did the trick, it was running on 301 and now I have 524. Definitely a much better solution than "reinstall the software" which is what MSFT support said:^o

Actually I'm just looking in the /bluetooth software/bin folder and I've noticed a file named ITSE_00002_08_USB_WHQL_F128_R524.dfu and another ITSE_00019_02_USB_BC2_F128_R829.dfu.

I wonder if the second one is an updated firmware. I start btdfucmd.exe but it quits straight away.

I suspect there are different versions of hardware in the different TDK devices and that the firmware updater figures out which updater file to use. Given the 524 at the end of one of them I suspect that's the PC card update.

Got an e-mail from my contact at TDK. 524 is the latest firmware for both the PC card and USB adapters.
