Spotted in the Dom Post today - I am surprised nobody has mentioned it yet and IMHO is a fantastic concept!

I hate linking to stuff stories since they expire so I've posted the whole link - unsure if the mods want to keep this intact?

Airport offers net surfing for free
Wellington airport has set up a public Wi-Fi network covering its first-floor food court, where travellers can surf the internet for free.

Information technology manager James Groombridge says Trade Me founder Sam Morgan was among those who prodded the airport to provide the service for passengers.

Auckland airport offers Wi-Fi access to travellers for $10 an hour, but Wellington airport decided to go a step further by not charging, Mr Groombridge says.

I've read this two weeks before on Rod Drury's blog.

That's really good, people with internet devices would really want to go to Wellington when they travel more I think hehe, well I for one have internet devices and can use it (YAY) and yeah I can now use wifi while I wait for my plane (I am going away next week too) and I need to go 2 hours earlier prior to departure coz its near new years (and my birthday YAY) and there would be one hell of a queue, in September the queue was til the back of the wellington airport doors so this time its probably right out to the road maybe.

i found it funny that a tin pot airport like Whangarei has a Xtra Wireless hotspot, yet neither Wellington or Auckland do.

Good on Wellington airport.
