Hello all,

Though i have been a member for a long time i tend to just read stuff so this could be considered my first post as i cant remember the last, so please be forgiving of any errors i make such as putting this in the wrong place :)

In any case i need some help with putting a hard filter onto my telecom line terminus for my modem to connect to. This was suggested by a forum member who i spoke with over the phone while trying to identify the fault in my internet service/home network that was resulting in a lot of modem/router clashes. Never worked out the problem but he did suggest that the filter would improve bandwidth anyway.

He said to come on here and ask the community if there was someone in the lower hutt area that knew how to do such things and would be willing to come and help me out for which i would happily compensate them for there efforts.

Oh just to add this morning i installed dd-wrt on my wrt-610n and it seems that the internet connection/network is far more stable. On top of that you have so much more control over the router!

I look forward to any and all comments and helpers :)

Dan

You most likely mean a master filter (or sometimes called a master splitter).

If you do a search for those on GZ, there are plenty of threads / blogs on how to install, if you feel comfortable doing it yourself. Failing that, there's bound to be someone who can do this for you.

Any communication cabling company can sort you out.
If you can't find someone I will be coming down to Wellington in a few weeks in one of the boy's van to pick some stuff up and will have all the tools (and ability) to do it.
