Hi There!

I was thinking of getting Hulu Pro and or NetFlix and also looking for a VPN Provider who doesn't track my ip, and whom can provide me with an ip in another juristiction. I have had a look at a few all around $10 a month which I am happy to pay.

Is a proxy sufficient or do I require a full VPN, and are there some VPN providers who are blocked by Hulu/Netflix?

If I use a proxy are my uploads and downloads put through the proxy?

I like the looks of BTGuard.

In terms of US Credit Cards, is this something straight forward to obtain?

I use HMA Pro (Hide my ass) which the kids think is hilarious. Cancelled Sky Movies and use it for Netflix. Movie selection is a bit of a downer after Sky Movies but there is piles of content on there. We are working our way through Once upon a Time which the kids (11 and 10) really like.

Anyway, back on topic. HMA works fine over my Vodafone connection. I tried a free trial of unblock-us but the Vodafone proxy played havoc with that.

I didn't do a lot of research on it. It seems to be one of the VPN's that is mentioned by a few users.

When I started off with Hulu/Netflix I was using Astrill. They very good.

I since moved to unblock-us and allthough not a VPN, it does the job much better. They offer a 7 day trial

Netflix will take any card. Use your AirNZ onesmart for HuluPlus/Vudu et all (I'm still working on cracking Amazon On Demand)

I use unblockus as a proxy. Works like a champ.

I've upgraded my Roku to get the full 1080i HD (thus pulling down much more in bandwidth) - works like a champ on my new 55" through maxnet.

I used my onesmart for both Netflix and HMA also. I would like to know about Amazon on Demand as well.

I wonder who is going to win the content race? Amazon seems to be front runner at the moment.

Just remember that unblock-us will not work with ISP's that make use of transparent proxies. Check their website for details.

I use Astrill with a homepack user licence

1 perm tunnel to the US via a router with Tomatoe firmware installed, it allows me to only send my apple tv through the VPN which I use for Netflix (tried Hulu but a refuse to pay a subscription and then have to watch adds).

2nd tunnel from my HTPC to the UK for all UK ondemand channels (BBC, 4, 5, iTV).

3rd tunnel from my main rig for torrenting.

StrongVPN for me - you get 5 endpoint changes which can be various US/UK places.

Because content providers can google their names, find discussions around how to circumvent their blocking, ruining our chances to keep this going :)
