Is this Bluetooth USB dongle connected directly to your computer or to a USB HUB?

Are you using the correct port set in the Services tab as the port on your ActiveSync?

Hi

Thanks for your reply, I seam to be going around in circles trying to get this to work.

On the Ipaq under bluetooth manager the inbound com port says com7, outbound com port com 8 and there seams no way to manually change it on the Ipaq.

The USb bluetooth adaptop is just that, just says belkin bluetooth usb adaptor, its one of those tiny little ones like a usb stick

On Active sync im running ver 3.6 .

On the software that comes with the bluetooth adaptor there is some software that shows the bluetooth serial port under com 4 for local services. under client services it shows bluetooth on serial port on Com 5.

I have tried changing the setup in activesync to com port 4 and 5, when it does connect it comes back and says Ms active sync does not recognise the device that is trying to connect.

If I open activesync and go to get connected, it runs through checking all the com ports 1-7 and comes up with the same error, and then the circle starts all over.

Im so confused to whats happening, Help !!!

You're right, there are no changes on your Pocket PC, and you can leave it for now.

On your computer there's a port configured as Service, and you say it's COM4. This is the port you have to manually select on ActiveSync. Right-click the icon, select Connection Settings and change the serial port to COM4.

You always initiate the ActiveSync from your Pocket PC. What OS are you running Pocket PC OS 2002 or Windows Mobile 2003? Depending on which one you'll look in one of two different guides for instructions on what to do on your Pocket PC.

Next things to check:

  • Make sure no other program is using COM4
  • Disable ANY firewall software you're using - have a look in this thread to see why.
