I am running linux (64bit ubuntu) on my desktop computer (mid-tower T5400) and want to get bluetooth and wifi capability without having to use dongles or usb.

This product here: Centrino Advanced-N 6235 adapter ticks all of my boxes and of most importance has proper native linux drivers (the source of infinite problems when using dongles of unknown chipset origin) provided by the manufacturer.

I have a dualband N600 router and my system currently has free slots of the following:

• One PCI card slot
• One PCI Express x16 card slot
• Two PCI Express x8 card slots (wired as x4)
• Two PCI-X card slots

Big question is: can this Centrino card be adapted in some way to work off a regular desktop motherboard? Any ideas? Alternative suggestions? Additional info I need to provide for you to answer my query properly?

Cheers for reading.

maybe?

I am sure someone will sell an adapter card - its just a matter of finding who/where

I dont know where you are going to buy the centrino card from - maybe check with the place you buy it from if they sell an adapter card.
I see that PBtech have it in stock for $39 +gst
Maybe you could check with them if they have an adapter for the PCI PCI mini bit.
I tried a search on their site but couldnt find anything - but that doesnt mean they dont have it.

Its always quite difficult buying things like computer parts on the internet - making sure you have exactly the right thing by reading the specs can be very difficult!
