Thought I would try it on the work AP's to see if it helped out when walking thru the door between buildings, which prettymuch means a total drop of wifi even when they are same SSID and channel etc.

Anyway, Made the wifi group, chose zero handover roaming, put the channel in there, added a SSID (same as before, same key as before)

Move the APs from the old default group to the new zero handover group and they just stop broadcasting. No SSID shows on any devices at all, even several mins after it changes back from provisioning to connected.

Put the AP back into the default wifi group and the SSID pops up very quickly.

So is it working for anyone else? Do the AP's need to be in radio range of each other or something?

It seems that one of the ones next door must have come up because I saw someones phone connect to it, but when I went thru they had left and my phone showed nothing. And no, the SSID is not hidden or anything daft like that.

3.1.1 downloaded today. It wanted to update the aps which I did and restarted them. Put a single one on the seamless handover groupnand it worked and gave a ssid with a totally different mac address ok. Other 2 were operating on normal default and were showing the stock mac address.

It's a shame UNBT hardware and software is so buggy.. I've now deployed hundreds of radios and a few hundred UniFi's now so at least know most of the frustrations/issues and workarounds.

Ok, a single AP on the wifi group for zero handoff works fine, 2 of them and neither will make a network.

I also notice that when you add one more to the group, that all in the group revert to provisioning in the list of AP's.

Flick them back to the old default group, and then the AP shows, clients connect and it is back working again.

Seems that it is still worthy of being called a beta, but if I cant get it to work on a basic install of 3 APs on a single network, I dont know what hope it has on larger installs. Putting them all back on the default group till there is an update.

Can you even call the beta a beta?! It has the basics sorted but the multi site stuff is still quite screwy. Haven't done an update very recently but I couldn't even shift an AP from one site to another. Just gave up on it and hoped the actual release would get put out with the 802.11ac units they released... it didn't lol.

It will be very cool, when it all works.

That pretty much sums up all UBNT gear.
