I have now spent many person-hours trying in to sync my bluetooth ipaq 1945 with my bluetooth (USB adaptor) desktop. I cannot sync. Please can someone help???

Have you followed this guide? You need to check that your computer's ActiveSync is using the COM port defined as Incoming or Server as shown in the guide.

Next, is the USB adapter connected directly to your computer or to a USB HUB? These adapter don't like USB HUBs.

Then, are you running a personal firewall?

This should be a start...
