Hi

I run a VPN into work using OpenVPN on port 443, this works great from many different places around the world without any problems but I've found out that at both Christchurch and Auckland airport on their public Wi Fi that it will not connect (web browsing is working fine) and funnily enough as soon as that user went to Singapore and used their public Wi Fi it works fine!

Does anyone know any details of the public Wi Fi in Chch and Auckland airports?

Cheers

Reon - 443 is not blocked at the Air NZ lounges. Did you try a banking site that uses https to confirm it is blocked? Possibly your VPN app uses additional ports taht are outside the normal range.

Hi Marty

Haven't checked but pretty sure a banking site would work, I'm more thinking whether they filter for certain types of traffic or some other strange thing? Definitely does not use any other strange port and it works at other public WiFi's as the user in question tried the WiFi at Singapore airport and it worked ok.

Cheers

Did you get anywhere with your complaints to the airline etc about this? Public internet access that actually isnt internet is one thing that really really annoys me.
