In my experience, CCNA and CCNP and even more can be covred and achieved by using the Dynamips/GNS3 software, without partners or real equipment. As a matter of fact, all of my friends or colleagues who are CCNPs did it alone as it's just a question of self-motivation. A partner is a good thing though for the beginning (CCNA), then I believe you would rather go by yourself :)
