Now here's a touchy subject :-)

Who here hunts out Wi-Fi hotspots ?
What tools do you use ?
Have you found any ?
And have you gained access due to bad WiFi implementations ?

I've got an Ipaq 5450 waiting for me at home (why do the toys always urn up when you're away ?) and I think I'd like to have a little try of some of the war driving applications ... just I've never done it before and don't really know how well they work :-)

Hmmm... Where are you located? I think you're moving to New Zealand, aren't you?

I'm sure I saw a website about war driving in Auckland and Wellington... I've not tried it myself, but I don't have wi-fi in my PPC

Well I'm in the UK at the moment (Reading to be precise) and yes I am moving to NZ ... hurray!

Don't suppose you have the links to those war driving sites do you ? Think it would be interesting reading.

Mark you might want to pickup an Orinoco card, and a *New* Hp PCMCIA+ pack then. The Hp545X will not work with any wardriving software, with the built in software. MiniNetStumbler, has been ??Shut down?? no active development going on. The *New* Hp drivers do to a name change do not work with it. The *Heat* has been turn up in Canada, so it maybe sometime before you see any updates that work.

Also do to some odd choices Hp made the WLAN card is not set up correctly, in the USA version. So one must edit the registry to even get it seen correctly.

Ok you have a 545X and you want to wardrive? You'll need a Registry editor to change a line in your registry Change HKLM \comm\vnetmini\Linkage Route to vnetmini1

Then download this program to your PC and run it. Note this is a prerelease, and may not be stable! http://www.pocketwarrior.org/PocketWarriorSetup.exe
