Hi I'm new here, and unfortunately start off my contribution to the site with a request for help.

I have an iPAQ 5555 and Fortuna bluetooth GPS receiver and tomtom2 software loaded. I have (I think) set everything up as instructed on the CD, and it all seemed very straightforward, but I have yet to get it all working. I have now unloaded and loaded the software 6 times in case I made any errors, but am still no further forward.

This is where I am at the moment with the software loaded.

Fire up the iPAQ.

On 'Today Screen' hit the bluetooth icon in the bottom RH corner.......select 'Turn Bluetooth On'

From this same icon select the 'Bluetooth Manager' screen. On the 'Bluetooth Manager' shortcuts screen I see an icon and below it the legend 'ClipOn-BTGPS:SPP slave (1)'. I click and hold on this and click connect.

On the 'Bluetooth Manager' active connections screen in the top half of the screen marked 'Outgoing Connections' I see an icon and beside it the legend 'ClipOn-BTGPS:SPP slave. In the bottom half of the screen marked 'incoming Connections' there is nothing, which seems wrong, but I dont know.

If I now start the tomtom software all I get is the message 'GPS position unreliable'. even after leaving the thing outside for over two hours, not one satellite appears to have been found.

Oh and to make things worse, for no reason the SPP slave seems to dissconnect itself.

I am well an truly out of my depth........HELPPPPPPP

Do you have any option to configure the GPS software to actually open a specific COM Port? In this case, instead of connecting using the Bluetooth Manager, you can just leave the software to do this, after configuring the port in it.
