Hi,

I'm having a few annoyances with my ADSL connection relating to disconnections on certain web sites (facebook games is one example).  I find if I VPN into my workplace these issues no longer exist, so for this reason, and along with security and privacy I'm looking at different VPN options, because I cant run all of this through my work (but it was a good test).  What I can see is that there is already some discussion and Astrill has some good comments on the board, and I'm looking to sign up for a demo account to see if this works well, and then subscribe, all going well.

I wanted to know 2 things..
1: Do people have better ideas and suggestions
2: Anyone already an existing subscriber who wants to refer me and claim the perks that brings :-)

I'm interested primarily for myself on my PC, Mobile, Laptop so that I can be secured through these devices - often I may want more than one connected at a time, so this is about the only downside I can see so far.  I think I can live with that.

Regards
Chris

Are you looking for a VPN that terminates somewhere else (e.g. US) or locally?

I've been using StrongVPN for about 12 months and am very happy. They do PPTP/L2TP/OpenVPN and have endpoints all over the place. happy to refer you if you like.

Still researching, and I did see StrongVPN.  Flexibility of termination sounds appealing between local (speed) and US etc for (locality services) is appealing.  I guess I've got an issue with something and looking to see if VPN will fix it ... but also getting up to speed with the benefits it may offer (I always feel nervous using public wifi for email etc)

I'll check out StrongVPN more.  Any way I go, passing on a referral is always a good thing once I'm ready to jump.

I use Astrill myself. Decent speeds, heaps of servers around the world, unlimited server changes allowed, and they have a nz server also.

Main problem is that only one device is allowed to connect at a time unless you pay extra.

Some servers can also be used with p2p services.

if you're  looking for security and privacy...stay away from the US.

After much research (does 2 hours count?) HideMyAss looks popular.  Is anyone getting rich referring people here to the service?

I would pick Astrill due to the EXTREMELY simple set up it requires.

Install software.
Set the country and flick the switch.
Done.

I just tried HMA. Popular, plenty of servers in plenty of countries but the speeds I was getting were terrible. Couldn't really watch any US content on youtube higher than 360p without insanely slow buffering. Just emailed them for my 30 day refund (on the 29th day lol), so hopefully they honor it. You could have a better experience though :).

After a little research, I think I may try Astrill. Look good and seems popular among GZ.

I've also been playing with HMA and Astrill and found HMA to be very, very slow - Im going to make use of the 30 day refund and go with Astrill, been very happy with Astrill.

Cheers
