I am in desperate need of help! I recently had a Technicolor Modem from Telecom, and I tried to make a password for the admin account and then after I needed to type it in. So I did, it said incorrect.  So after a day of constantly calling and trying to diagnose it, resetting still didn't help.  Now I recently bought a TP-Link one, after thinking it was the Modem itself.  Now after trying the same this happens.  Although the day before I was testing antivirus software in a virtual machine when it prompted me for my modem settings password and username.  So that is another reason I got a new modem, because I virus hacked it I'm pretty sure.  However with this one the same thing happened.  The funny thing is that I have a mac, currently.  So the virus cant be on the computer doing it. Yet the virus I don't think can hide in my house's phone lines.  That would be crazy! So I'm asking for help.  I've tried resetting several times!

Doesn't make any sense.

You can't get into either modem interface?

You tried reset or factory reset?

Try another browser? I remember an issue a couple of years ago when Firefox wouldn't correctly submit forms to dlink routers.

Hmm i've been using chrome, yet when I entered a 5 character password it worked! so I'm not sure what is going on.  I've tried on both Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer!!!

I used to use a technicolor ISP branded modem router.  Now I use a TP-link one

Just because you are using a mac doesnt mean its not a virus on your computer.

As a side note, i have seen dynalinks with the admin port 80 exposed to the internet are susceptable to a DNS change.

Have seen it a few times where someone remotley logs into the modem and changes the dns settings so they can cause all sorts of man-in-the-middle naughtyness.
