Looking at the DYNAMIX Cat6 Ivory UTP SOLID Cable Roll. 550MHz, 23 AWGx4P, PVC Jacket.

presume solid is better for fixed permanent wiring.

will this be good or just good enough?- is 'cheaper' cable in any way a risk? I only need about 50m

the longest run will only be 20m. Domestic, under house setting- so not too damp.
any alternatives accepted of course...cheers Theo
intended to feed a big TV fast enough from internet or networked drive.

That cable is ok as long as its not sitting on the ground, ie supported by clips or whatever onto the framing. Solid UTP is the only option for permanent fixed wiring and matches the RJ45 jacks that are designed to be mounted on a faceplate on the wall. Don't use stranded cable (thats designed for patch cords).

Make sure its installed correctly, nothing pinching the cable jacket or bending the cable more tightly than about 30mm bend radius, so you support it at the bends in a way that prevents it from kinking or being pulled tight. The end result comes from the way its installed as much as the actual cable quality. I prefer the 180° jacks that are easier to work with, and rework if needed.

Time to find a new industry!

very helpful thanks. any pointers on the connections at the patchbay and wall appreciated
presume by 180 deg that implies a straight connection from cable to block?- any favourite connectors etc? cheers Theo

Although a different product, I love the dynamix outdoor black cat5e.

In general, dynamix make very good networking hardware, so it would be my suggestion to use a dynamix rack, dynamix patch board, dynamix everything lol.

In you scenario you may as well just go for the cheapest cable around, which probably will be DYnamix.

I'm not a huge fan of Dynamix cables for big jobs, I've had far too many issues when pulling 3-4 boxes at a time and finding pretty regular occurrences of boxes where the cable continually snags and kinks. Some stuff is fine, but other boxes are just terrible right from the start.

Their jacks, while ugly are fine, the cable seems good enough, their patch cables are fantasticly good value.

I would have no problems recommending dynamix cables.

I've used their patch leads as well as audio / video leads, and never had a problem with them - good value for money, and easy to get.

As long as you don't have to swap hinges over on the dynamix wall cabinets so it opens on the left side, a real pain.

Time to find a new industry!

true- I got a cabinet which is great. I do reckon mounting it upside down would make no difference- despite the arrow!
