So I got my Xbox One and I'm loving the overall experience so far.

But there is one issue I'm having
My NAT type is stuck on strict. If I do a network check on the Xbox it gives an error "cannot get teredo ip address"
I have tried all of Microsoft's trouble shooting and anything I can think of.

The Xbox has a fixed ip address and I opened all ports listed on the Microsoft website.
I even tried giving it open access to all ports.
Its plugged directly into the fritz.

My internet connection is fine, 1ms latency and 40down 10up. Ping to Xbox servers is 200ms which isn't the greatest but I'm sore that's to be expected.

My knowledge of router config is quite limited so any further suggestions are all appreciated.

Check that UPnP is enabled. That should be all that is required for Xbox to work.

Port forwarding would be the next thing and will work provided that you have entered them correctly. Maybe put up some screenshots of the appropriate pages.

Can you not connect to XBL?

I can connect, but party chat doesn't work.
Its also dropping out a bit as well. And my download speed of games and updates was not what it should be.

UPnP is on. I can post a few screenshots, which pages specifically will help?

Try removing all those port forwards and see the the UPnP list populates itself.

Should be absolutely no need to forward 80 and 53 to the Xbox.

I have tried that and it doesn't, it opens port 3074 itself but that's it, and nat type never changes.

I thought maybe I need to open the xbox for ipv6 ports but it asks for a interface id for the device and I don't know what that Is :/

I have the same problem. On doing a bit of a search I found this http://service.avm.de/support/en/skb/FRITZ-Box-7390-int/606:Cannot-establish-connections-using-the-Teredo-protocol

Can anyone confirm or not that this will be contributing to the issue?

I can confirm disabling ipv6 works, gets teredo ip fine, and nat type is now on moderate - better than strict

And after giving the xbox open access to ports, NAT is now open.
Thanks tpain for finding that page :)

I put the Xbox One on DMZ (known as exposed host in FritzBox under port forwarding), have no ports forward for it and have IPv6 enabled. I get strict but all the games see my NAT type as open.

I will disable IPv6 as well and see if I get open in Xbox One network settings itself.

Edit - Disabled IPv6 and my Xbox One is also now showing open NAT. Also need Xbox One's ports open or either on DMZ.

Sorry for the noob question, but where in the UI do you disable IPV6?

Go to Internet on left, then Account Information, then IPv6 TAB which is the 2nd one. And untick the enabled checkbox. Hit apply. Restart modem which is called 'reset' under system option in left.

Two of my friends were having an issue with strict NAT - both of them on VDSL. The only way they managed to get NAT showing as open instead of strict was to change their country to AUS rather than NZ when setting up the Xbox One

Not sure of the implications or how that changed anything at all to do with NAT but alas they've both been enjoying open NAT.

Let me understand this. Can't the XBOX use the native IPv6 provided by the ISP?

From: http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/88/slides/slides-88-v6ops-0.pdf

Xbox will consider the following peer pairs:
Teredo Client -> Teredo Client
IPv6 -> IPv6
IPv4-> IPv4
NO Teredo Client -> Native
