I'm not too sure if its my Bluetooth or if its my SD card, but when i transfer large files like MP3's (always at the same distance), the speeds are varying.

I've had highs of 40kb/s, and recently lows of about only 12kb/s. The last time i clocked my kingston SD card, it gave me the readings of:

Average Read Speed: 0.74 MB/sec, 5.7X
Average Write Speed: 0.03 MB/sec, 0.4X

but those readings vary too, sometimes the write speed is much higher like .08. Could it be possible that my SD card is slowing down because i've been filling it up? Half of my 512mb is gone already.

What can i do to have it always transfer at 40kb/s? or is that just not possible? Is it my SD card slowing down?

Not sure if the SD would influence on this. Do you have other 2.4GHz devices in this area? A neighboor's cordless phone? A microwave oven? Wi-fi access point? These all interfere with each other.

oh it does?

I have a cordless phone, a wifi router and bluetooth adapter all in the same room.

So in otherwords, if i want to get the best output, i need to turn off these devices? Any way around this?

I was in a friend's place once. One wi-fi router, three laptops with wi-fi, one of them with Bluetooth. I was using my iPAQ 4150 to transfer files from a SD card to this laptop. Everything was working fine.

Then a phone call came in. As soon as he answered the phone, the whole wi-fi network stopped working. After the call finished the network came back.

Nothing to do about this, really. They're all using the same frequency...

well from the looks of it, the Wifi doesn't seem to be interferring with the blue tooth. I tested it just before by unplugging the wifi router, and the transfer speed was the same. I was on the cordless phone and it would appear that that doesn't interfer with the bluetooth either.

To be honest, my bluetooth normally transfers at 20kb/s, but this one time it peaked at 40kb/s and i haven't been able to get that again. Then this morning i had a max transfer of only 10kb and i thought my bluetooth must have been slowing down for some strange reason. Right now its back to transfering at 20kb/s.

My trendnet bluetooth dongle advertises a 723kbps data throughput, which should be around 85kb/s transfer speed right? But 20kb/s is my norm, which really sucks when you want to transfer mp3's back and forth and they are 100mb directories.
