I have been having problems with my pocket pc 2002 and bluetooth for a very long time now.

I was recently reading the article on how to share internet with pocket pc ipaq 3970 and saw that picture that had the Bluetooth Network and read the article saying that was created when you installed bluetooth.

I don't have that and am now wondering if that's why I can't connect my pocket pc with activesync or anything?

Ty in advance

Possibly. You could remove the Bluetooth and install it again, to see if it install the appropriate drives. If you're using Windows 2000 or XP you might have a problem with your user profile.

You could create a new user in the Administrator group and reinstall Bluetooth using that new user.

I don't think i'll ever get this to work.

I've been trying for about a year now and only have been connected once and never again. D;

This is the hardest thing for me ever to connect.

I've followed about 1000000 diff articles and none have worked.

Reinstalled bluetooth 1000000 times and never worked.

I'm thinking to just give up.

I have no idea what's wrong or what i'm doing wrong.

i'm going to cry D; hehe

Don't cry - yet...

Sometimes the user profile information on the registry gets corrupted and the Bluetooth install can not create the keys required. If you create a new user, and place it in the Administrator group, you can remove and install the Bluetooth software again with a fresh profile. Try it...

Recipe:

Create the new user, make sure it's an Administrator type.
Remove the Bluetooth dongle
Reboot, log with the new user
Remove Bluetooth software
Reboot, log with the new user
Install Bluetooth software
Reboot, log with the new user
Plug the Bluetooth dongle

Check if the Services are there, by right-click the icon in the system tray. Then try doing some of the easy things like ActiveSync... Then check the network side.

I think i'm going to quit.

But I don't think it likes me.

Ok since I figured I couldn't get Activesync to work I was like let me see if I can get this network access to work and just go on internet and stuff.

I followed the article to the last drop and it even says i'm connected and everything but when I go on internet it doesn't work.

It comes with this.

Unable to connect with current settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.

Please Help.

Don't worry. I had the same problem setting up my Bluetooth connection with my laptop and my Ipaq 4150. Here's the hard ware I have

IOGEAR Bluetooth USB device
Laptop: Toshiba Satelite 2450
iPAQ 4150 - Wireless and Bluetooth

I managed to set up the ActiveSync but it took a while (about 2 hours). I had to first install the BT Cleint/server USB device and enable the BT services on my Laptop. This took a while since I really had to learn what was happening. When I started to share the Serial connection with the Bluetooth Configuration app, it automatically set it up default Local and Client Serial Ports. I think it was local port 5 and client port 6 for the Bluetooth Serial Port.

Anyways this is where the problem for me started. When I asked my iPAQ to find devices it was successful in finding my laptop services and making a connection. But when I checked with the serial port configuration (in the Bluetooth Settinggs) it was using (defaulted) Inbound COM Port 8 and Outbound COM port 6. And it doesn't allow for changing the ports. The text boxes to change the ports were disabled from editting.

So I had to go back to WindowsXP on my laptop and ADD new ports until I had 5,6,7,8 added. If you try and change the ports manually, the Bluetooth Config wouldn't let me choose any of other ports that were not added. So thats why I had to add all of them first.

Once I did that I was able to change the Bluetooth Local port to 6 and client port to 8 on my laptop bluetooth settings. and then my activeSync and Internet worked. I then removed the other ports I didn't need to have added (5 and 7)

But let me warn you, its flakey. If I try and make a connection from the iPAQ to the Internet Serice that I created using the Bluetooth wizard it won't work. In fact I am continuously asked to a 'BT NEtwork Log ON' Username, password and Domain(Optional). I tried accounts on my laptop but it don't work.

I actually have to have the ActiveSync Connection working before I can surf the Net from my iPAQ. I hope they fix this, it was and is a real pain.

Good Luck, http://www.okboss.com
