Hey

I'm looking for a cheap modem/router solution with wifi for a friend of mine. Looking on pricespy I found three under $50 options, the SMC Networks 7901WBRA2, and two Tenda models. The Tenda models I read had a problem with high network usage due to a DSL issue, but I can't find much for or against the SMC model. Anyone ever tried it? it will be for a flat with a single computer, and a couple of mobile devices. Mostly for general internet use, some downloads, occasional online gaming but nothing that is latency critical.

Thanks for any insights :)

Havent used that particular model, but I bought a SMC ADSL unit (with wifi) for my parents a couple years ago, been great little unit - only thing that caused issue at first was that it would overheat and stop responding - after speaking with the local distributor, he advised to turn down the power on the wifi. He found that the chips were quite powerful in them and get warm, turning down the power helped keep them cooler.

Havent had a problem with it since.
