What up ma!

The best Mac bittorrent program is called Azureus - http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

In terms of ports, you'll need to open up a port on your router that will forward the ports to whichever IP you're using - personally I use wireless so I have the port xxxxx forwarding itself to the IP of my iMac which is connected wirelessly to my router. A common mistake is to forward the port to another IP on your local network (both wired and wireless) without realising, which results in no speed improvement for you as your machine is not the one 'receiving' the forward.

Hope this helps!

Just for anyone who might end up reading this thread later on ...

If you are finding Azureus a bit bloated (which I do, especially memory wise!), then there are a couple of other good bit torrent clients for mac out there.

Tomato Torrent is worth a look if you just want a cut down, slick client.

But IMO Transmission is the best. I get blistering speeds with this compared to other clients (Azureus included!).
