Hi All,

Hoping that someone where with a bit of experience with either the Zyxel or Apple Airport Extreme might be able to help - I've got a Zyxel P870H v2 modem connected to my AEBS in bridge mode; with the AEBS handling the connection, NAT and DHCP. Connection is working fine for day to day use, but I've found my Plex Media Server is not connecting correctly outside of the network to the internet.

Thoughts are that it might be firewall related, but I believe the firewall is turned off on the Zyxel and I've tried to put a DHCP reservation on the target computer and do a port forward to no avail.

I've attached a few screenshots of the Zyxel's configuration if it helps - If possible I'd like to retain the AEBS with the NAT/DHCP and PPPoE connectivity duties as it's easier to manage from my devices, but am open to ideas :) - FYI I connected the computer directly to the modem to get these screenshots, hence why the WAN information is blank...

I have the exact same set up as you. All of your screens shots look like mine, with the exception that I have QoS disabled.

I've only played around with a Plex Media Server once and it seemed to work OK. Quite frankly, I'd rather use iTunes.

Thanks guys.

I'll try getting a hold of @networkn and see if he's got any ideas. Did kill QoS on the Zyxel and that didn't seem to do anything; port still seems to be blocked somehow, and the port forward is still configured on the AEBS...

Bridge mode is exactly that - it's a layer2 bridge so it's impossible to be the cause. Problem is either tour router or ISP.

Thanks sbiddle - In the process of elimination I set the Zyxel to handle the connection, DCHP and NAT and set the AEBS to connect via. DHCP; still had the same problem.

I've got an inkling that the issue might be to do with my ISP - Possibly the CG-NAT that BigPipe have implemented on their service...

Just thought I'd post a quick update here - I'd requested a public IP from Bigpipe as it appeared CG-NAT was the issue, and although being told the changes had been made and restarting, and tweaking various settings, this still did not work. I ended up doing an IP address check and sending these screenshots to Bigpipe and their network guys confirmed that the changes didn't go through properly. Now just restarted my router, have been able to confirm that there is a public IP allocated and everything is all working correctly - Zyxel is bridged to the Apple Airport Extreme, and AEBS is handling connection/NAT/DHCP. All resolved.
