Hi all, some one here must have had this issues before!

I have a school that is having issues with Apple Mac gear connecting to PFsense box running proxy.

PFsense needs a log in (each student has a log in).

The Mac's and having massive issues with the PFsense box and you can log in after that you will get a long lag time (compared to windows pc's) and may be a error.

Any thing would be of a lot of help.

What version of Mac OS are the client machines running. I haven't used a proxy in about 5 years with a Mac as I am now using A Sonicwall for my content filtering.

Also are the macs point at an internal or external DNS server and what are you putting in the proxy field i.e. a FQDN or a IP address.

How is the proxy presented to the user?  Is it a webpage that pops up where you have to put in your details?  Or are you entering the proxy information (including username/pass) in the Proxies section of the Networking System Preferences pane?

So no RADIUS server then?

Time to find a new industry!

sorry been out of nz for the last week, I'm trying to put a radius server in as well.

I dont know why i feel sorry for them but yes.

The MAC's have the proxy setup under the network settings (name and password + Address of proxy)
