Found this old disc lying around. It describes installing and configuring the ADSL Modem Router which would have been the first for many users. Thought it may be of some vague interest to someone. :)

Highlights: Recommending the ZoneAlarm firewall (supposed to be included on the disc, no sign of it for me), and recommending a Shields Up! scan for home ADSL users!

Anyone still have one of these? Ours is long gone, so it's be nice to learn a bit more about it - internals, original model name (before rebranding) etc...

From the video at 11:50 there's the modem PTC that tells me 272/02/024, which translates to DSE XH 7916 External ADSL Router.

Here's the documentation: http://kb.orcon.net.nz/zone/dsl/DSEXH7916.pdf

Here's the Telepermit list: http://www.telepermit.co.nz/cgi-bin/b.pl

Hey, thanks for that freitasm! I'll add that to the video description.

Also cheers for the embed.

Is it just me or is that a very short telepermit list?

ripdog: Is it just me or is that a very short telepermit list?

It definitely doesn't list everything (my aging modem is 273/08/036, which isn't listed).

Edit: 273 series is here. It appears that 272 contains ADSL1 devices, and 273 contains 2+. 274 appears to be VDSL, but that seems to be incomplete too.
