This website tells me that this phone is certainly wlan capable

Although the latest phone is the 990i as listed in the Latesyt My Mobile magazine

I suppose the next question is how much money you got to spend.
The next decision is what Operating system-Windows Mobile or Palm, Symbian.
Sounds like you got no experience of either??
My I suggest purchasing a copy of My Mobile-they list all the latest phones/pda in there.

I myself have 2 that I use-an Older Imate Jasjar-the one with the swivel screen and keyboard and recently got the Nokia N 95. The Jasjar is expensive new at around 1900 cheaper on ebay and imported of course.

The N 95 is a smaller device but handles multimedia very well, good camera and I cant fault the browser. Wlan for wireless surfing and the screen is good size too. I watch Sky Mobile TV on it reasonably frequently. When on the Vodafone its HSDPA so its quick as well.

Theres a couple more questions for you

Uh if going by the subject and you're looking at a P910i, then no it's not wlan capable. If looking at a P990i, then no problemo, Wlan capable and you can set your preferences of which networks to access.

If wanting wlan, then make sure you're getting a P990, else if you are getting the older P910i, then you can access the net through the cradle, but not wirelessly without incurring network charges.
